The most common injuries in MMA

May 19th, 2009

- Broken nose  (Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Rich Franklin, Wanda Silva, Cro Cop, Igor Vovchanchyn etc.)

-MCL/LCL or miniscus damage from falling awkwardly while being taken down or torking your own knee while working for a sub in the guard. (Matt Hughes, Ryan Bader, Martin Kampmann, Jorge Gurgel etc.)

-Torn ACL from heel hooks. (Ken Shamrock, Frank Shamrock, Shogun Rua, Mark Colleman etc.)

-Broken or jammed fingers & wrists from a hard strike incorrectly or getting caught against the mat at the wrong angle (Fedor, Forrest Griffin, Yushin Okami, Benji Radach, Joe Riggs etc.)
-The elbow “poping” from an arm lock going on too tight ( Tim Sylvia, Forrest Griffin, Justin McCully, Mike Swick etc.)

Shogun Rua vs Chuck Liddell Video

Consequences of the UFC 97:

- Chuck Liddell is on the way to retire or to take different career path. He did not look competitive enough to get yet another chance in UFC. If he desided not to retire, he is most probably on collision course with Dana White, his friend and ex-manager. He is now between Rock (Dana) and hard place (John Henkleman). John Henkleman is his best friend and coach, and he does not want Chuck to retire …

- Shogun is back! The most talented fighter in MMA is finally back after two knee surgeries and two poor performances.

- Anderson Silva is second best pound for pound fighter in MMA (Fedor is No 1) right now. But he is not able to attract pay-per-view audience due to his lack of motivation and aggression. This is due to lack of competition and poor matchup job by UFC. Silva’s next fight will be in light-heavyweight division against Forrest Griffin. Anderson Silva has 3 more fights on his contract and he is less than happy with monetary compensation that he receives. That is most probable reason for his lack of interest and motivation. He is likelly to demand huge salary increase or he will leave UFC …
